Supernatural: Wolfie not so wolfy; the hunter who is hunted(9)

Written by Winnie Su

Luna furiously hops off the car before Dean can even kill the engine. She fetches her room keycard from her pocket and opens the door with a hard, angry shove.

Sam follows her sheepishly behind and tells Dean what happened last night.

“What the hell were you thinking?” Dean exclaims once he hears the whole story.

“I wasn’t and I am sorry!” Sam apologizes quickly for the one-thousandth time.

“This is a very nice rookie mistake you made there, you know? Especially for you after all these years! Geez, are you feeling okay?”

“‘Msorry.” Sam mumbles as they walk into Luna’s room.

“Whoa.” Dean breathes.

Luna’s room has been trashed.

“Thanks for the warning, Sam.” Luna says as she rummages through her belongings to check if there’s anything missing and tosses them into her duffle bag. Before Sam can open his mouth to apologize again, she holds up a warning finger. “I know you are sorry, Sam. I forgive you, so please shut your pipe; it’s getting on my nerves. But I don’t forgive and forget, so excuse my language.”

Sam runs a hand through his hair in frustration and exhales. Dean shakes his head and gives his brother a pat on his shoulder. “Come on, Sam. We have to get our stuff, too.” He says and heads out the door.

Luna gives the brothers’ back a deadly glare before huffing out a breath and hurling one of her belongings into her duffle bag hard.

Ten minutes later, Luna throws her bags along with the brothers’ into the Impala’s trunk and slides into the back seat.

“This is not good.” Luna says half way to the coroner’s office. Before they left, Dean got a call that said the bodies are already at the office, so they decided split up. Sam and Luna are going to the office and Dean will check out the crime scene himself.

“Yeah, tell me about it.” Dean mutters behind the wheel.

“No, no, no.” Luna straightens up and leans forward, fiddling with something in her hand. “Something’s not right.”

“What’s that?” Sam asks and picks it up from her hand. It’s a small delicate necklace with a waning crescent moon as a pendant.

“It’s Lea’s. I, uh…” Luna clears her throat awkwardly before continuing. “I bought it for her last time I was here, as a…” She pauses once again but only for a slight moment, Sam couldn’t have notice it if he wasn’t paying attention. “Friendship thing.” She pulls out a similarly designed necklace from under her shirt, hanging from her neck. “It’s a pair. She got the moon, and I got the sun.” She holds out her hand to retrieve the moon necklace from Sam. “She never took it off, neither did I…” She trails off, staring at the pendant.

“How did you get it then?” Dean asks, turning left.

“That’s the thing.” She says, examining the necklace in her hand. “I found this when I was cleaning out the bathroom. It was hanging down on the mirror.” She squints her eyes when she notices something. “And there’s blood on it.” She slumps back in her seat with her eyes covered by her arm. “Oh god.” She breathes out.

Dean glances to the distressed girl in the backseat from the rear-view mirror. “So what? You think the werewolves were the ones that trashed your room and left the necklace on purpose?” He asks and kills the engine in front of the coroner’s office.

“I think they are trying to send a message.” Luna says as they all climb out of the car.

“And what is that?” Sam asks, circling over the car to the girl and his brother.

Luna shrugs, “They know who I am and who my friends are and they know I am coming for them. They are keeping Lea hostage and unless I walk away, they are going to kill her.”

“Are you going to walk away?” Sam questions.

Luna scoffs, “Heck, no!” She exclaims and starts to walk across the street.

“Wait a second.” Sam chuckles lightly and stops her with a hand.

“What?” She asks impatiently with a frown.

“Are you going to go in there like that?” Sam points at her neatly braided hair and down to her plain clothes.

Luna rolls her eyes and lets out an annoyed tsk. She pulls her hair band free at the end of her braid then bends over and throws her head back, revealing her wild curls. She heads to the back of the Impala and opens the trunk. Shrugging out of her utility jacket, she puts on a dark brown blazer and kicks off her sneakers, zipping up a pair of knee-high high heel leather boots. After tucking her fake FBI badge into her jacket, Luna turns to Sam with hands on her hips, “Happy now?”

While Dean watches them with a smirk on his face, Sam stares at her, “How do you fit so many things in just a duffle bag?”

Luna punches Sam’s arm and storms across the street as Dean drives off with an amused grin on his face.

“I might be short, but I can still get you flat on the floor.” Luna mumbles when Sam catches up to her.

Sam smirks, “No question to that.” He replies. In fact, she looks more mature with the wild curls despite her baby face and soft voice. However, it might still take a little push for the officials to believe them…

“Oh, hello, Agent Ehart.” The coroner greets as Sam turn around the corner first. They’ve met before from taking a look at the bodies of the first case. “And who is this little girl here? Where’s your partner?” He asks with a curious frown, gesturing toward Luna as she appears behind Sam.

“He is at the crime scene right now. Agent Hunter here joined us yesterday.” Sam explains.

“Hunter?” The old man asks, eyeing the Asian girl.
